Welcomeionresistance.com provides a support network and a variety of group training opportunities for fitness-minded people in the northern area of Lake County, IL. ionresistance.com is run by a non-salaried group of volunteers who donate their time and energies to promote a heathly lifestyle. Local triathletes started ionresistance.com as a way to encourage an outdoor, healthy lifestyle. The group organizes events such as swims, bike rides and runs, encourages friendships, supports athletes competing at races. ionresistance.com welcomes all types of endurance athletes and hopes to provide you with any information you may need. What does ion resistance mean? The name ionresistance.com originated from the idea that ions are the cause of muscle damage and fatigue in endurance sports. When lactic acid is produced in the muscle, it must be transported out of the muscle and into the bloodstream to be removed. To do so, the lactic acid must be converted to lactate. This leaves a hydrogen ion behind in the muscle. It is the build up of these ions in the muscle that cause fatigue and muscle damage, not lactic acid. The ions can cause misfiring or the neuromuscular pathways, a feeling of heaviness, along with many other factors associated with fatigue. As endurance athletes, we train to resist the ion build up. Hence, ionresistance.com.
